Cultural round (5 days)
day 1: Tbilisi
Arrival in the airport – a meeting with the guide – a transfer in hotel in Tbilisi, the Sightseeing tour in a city of Tbilisi. We will visit: The Sameba Cathedral constructed in the XXI-st century, in connection with the 1500 anniversary of autocephaly in Georgia and in commemoration 2000 –years of Christianity in Georgia. It the most grandiose Cathedral of Georgia. Sameba means «the Holy Trinity». The height of a cathedral reached 78 meters and consequently is perfectly visible from any point of a city. The Metekhi Cathedral constructed in V c. and reconstructed in a XIII century. This Area area is one of the first settlements in the city territory. The King of Georgia Vakhtang Gorgasali 1 erected here church, the fortress of Narikala – soul of Tbilisi (contemporary of the city – IV century) Visiting a botanical garden who will pleasantly surprises with natural magnificence, Sulfuric Baths – the well-known Tbilisi baths was locate in "banny" street, on a small site. They were constructed on the site of warm sulfur-alkaline sources running from the mountain Tabor.. Water temperature fluctuates from 37 to 47 degrees and possessed medical properties, the Sioni cathedral – is constructed in VI-VII c.c. , the church - Anchiskhati (VI century), is one of the oldest of the remained churches in Tbilisi,blessed in honor of nativity of Blessed Virgin. Let's visit the Ethnographic Museum, in a museum ancient dwellings and economic constructions from different regions of Georgia in the open-air: wine cellars of "marani", water-mills, barns for storage of grain etc. A supper at national restaurant. Overnight in Tbilisi.
day 2: Tbilisi-Mtskheta-Kazbegi
After breakfast Departure to Mtskheta (a heritage of UNESCO). It was founded a second half of 1millenium BC. Let's originally visit a monastery Jvari (VI century), the fine panorama of the ancient capital, Svetitskhoveli's cathedral (XIcentury),holy site for each orthodox Christian. The tunic of Jesus Christ in whom he was crucified is buried in this cathedral. Thenr we will drive towards Kazbegi by the Georgian Military Road. Then we drive the Georgian Military Road to places of the Caucasian ridge. A dinner after the arrival in Kazbegi (1700 meters above sea level). Walk on picturesque vicinities of Kazbegi and then we will climb to the main sight of the district – the Gergeti Trinity Church, ascended over the village Kazbegi and vicinities. The amazing kind on the Caucasian mountains and top Kazbek (5047 m), one of five 5000-meter tops of Caucasus from here are opened. According to the Greek myths, here, in this territory of unapproachable and majestic mountains was chained to the top Prometheus for the disobedience to gods. Then we will go to Daryal pass of «the Collar of Caucasus» on border of Russia and Georgia. There we will visit a monastic complex of sacred Archangels of Michael and Gabriel (XXIcentury). After walk we will have a rest and a supper in a private hotel.
day 3: Kazbegi-Ananuri-Gori-Borjomi-Bakuriani
After a breakfast we come back on the Georgian Military Road and we will visit on the way for survey of an architectural complex of Ananuri. Complex, dated XVI-XVII centuries. The basic sight of a fortress is the main church of the Virgin Maria, decorated by relief drawings and frescos on religious plots. With a fortress the view on the Zhinvali water basin opens. Further we will visit a city Gori – small town in Georgia. The first historical data related to VII c. A.D. It is known by the fact that here was born Josef Jugashvili known as Stalin So the guests of the town visit Stalin Museum and then the cave-town Uplistsikhe (God’s Fortress). It is the most ancient fortified city built by titanic work on creation of the whole city from stone firmament. It was crowded and noisy city, more 3000 years ago. Here pass every possible pagan rituals, sacrifices. Then here started construction of Chriostian Churches. The city was functioning till XIII-XIV c.c. till Mongols invasion. Nowadays are remained about 150 caves. Following it we will drive to Borjomi. Visit to Borjomi Park, we will taste the famous mineral water. Supper and overnight.
day 4: Bakuriani-Vardzia-Rabati-Tbilisi
After a breakfast we leaves to the direction of the cave city Vardziya (XII-XIII c.c.), built for strengthening of borders of the Georgian kingdom from the Iranian attacks, the Georgian Queen Tamara and her father Tsar Giorgi III built the cave monastery Vardzia and a cave city. It locates on the left coast of Mtkvari river, in 70 kilometers from Borzhomi, in the historical region of Georgia Meskheti. As a whole the complex totaled over 600 inhabited, cult and economic premises. In case of an attack of enemies, the monastery contained to 50 thousand persons. In the middle of a complex is the temple of the Assumption completely covered with frescos, one from which fresco of Queen Tamara. After we will go toward Akhaltsikhe (a city in the south of Georgia). In a city are either Christian churches or a synagogue and a mosque as well. We will visit the Fortress a citadel – Rabati (IXcentury) . The fortress Rabat was completely restored recently to it the original form. There are samples of Georgian, Russian and Turkish Architecture in this construction. Then we will visit themonastery of Safara ( X century). By the evening departure to Tbilisi, a farewell banquet at national Georgian restaurant. Overnight in Tbilisi.
